Despite our title, The Atheist's Daughter wasn't written for a religious audience. Our lead character, Kristin, isn't beautiful or popular, she can't find a job and, still living with her mother, desperately wants to move out on

Despite our title, The Atheist's Daughter wasn't written for a religious audience. Our lead character, Kristin, isn't beautiful or popular, she can't find a job and, still living with her mother, desperately wants to move out on
her own. She's cursed -- or blessed, your call -- with an ability to discern a certain kind of evil.

She doesn't have a magical Kung Fu Grip with which to fight the evil, she only knows when it's present.She's no smarter, braver or stronger than anyone else. (Yep, we actually use the phrase, "magical Kung Fu Grip" when describing our tale.)

Bad Creatures have arrived in Kristin's small town but they're not any of the standard beasties. We'd grown tired of the same old frights and decided to invent something new. Our monsters aren't sexy, they're monsters.We’re hoping a fresh story, strong characterization, and our version of a 21st century heroine will find a readership.

One of our first readers said the story was, "Television's Buffy Summers crossed with Fright Night, but these monsters make vampires look WEAK." On the paperback edition, the back cover reads like this:

"Why am I such a freak?"

Kristin Faraday feels trapped, worried she'll spend the rest of her life in the small and suffocating town of Winterhaven. She also worries because she's different from her family and friends. She knows other people's secrets because she can tell, with certainty, when they're lying to her.

She doesn't realize she has this ability as a “gift” from Mrs. Norton, the woman who murdered her father. When Mrs. Norton and her family return to Winterhaven, Kristin discovers she's the only one that can see them for what they truly are.

They aren't human. They feed on humans.

Mrs. Norton is aware that Kristin is the one person who can stop her -- if the teenager only knew how. But this is one secret that Kristin Faraday hasn't learned....
