While studying Communications at the North-West University in South Africa, Anneretha Combrink developed a love for crossing boundaries and for different cultures. It was during this period that she became involved in short term Creative Writing Schools. For the past ten years Anneretha has been coordinating community-specific creative writing and storytelling projects. She is also freelancing with a youth development organisation, for whom she writes community dramas. Working in the Communications Department of OM’s Africa Area Office, she is at present involved with the development of publications for and by missionaries in Africa. Her PhD focussed on the role of orality and identity in the promotion of community-specific word art in South Africa.
