Short description

Essentially, this is the blog, "Hanging out with Rosey." There are lots of books, etc. about the bravery of those fighting breast cancer. They are legion and I am awed. Rosey was one for sure. I have tried to chronicle our time together. My efforts never equaled her inspiration to me. And, I might add, scores of others. Rose's memory will live on. The lives she touched will make it so.

Extended description

"Our Rose" is essentially a blog with a purpose of becoming something else. Now, I don't know as it has become painful to do. Not because of anything but the sense of great loss. Of Rose but has added also to my "nostalgic" Vietnam grief for my lost buds. Those feelings surfaced much through watching Rose die slowly over the last couple of years of her life. Every week, she seemed to be slipping away. I chronicled it in the blog that was Rose's idea. I think it was mainly to keep me occupied as I sat by her bed while the deadly chemo seeped into her body. Also, I think that Rose knew that in my own way, I would give recognition to those who had been so supportive to her: her oncologist, all the wonderful people at the UCSF Infusion Center and others too numerous to mention. The list is endless in a sense. Rose would want me to mention the "U'ilani Fund" that provides alternate therapies for cancer patients. A most worthy charity if you are so inclined.
