Extended description

Set in rural Wyoming, Second Chances is a contemporary western romance with the feel of a classic old-time romance novel as it follows the lives of Jane Porter and Mike Farley, two young people who live on adjoining ranchers and have been in love with each other since they were kids. Can the scoundrel Mike redeem himself with sweet Jane after committing the ultimate betrayal to their love?

The blossoming romance between their parents, Liz Farley and Jim Porter, gives an added dimension to the overall storyline and proves it is never too late for love.

One reader stated, "I read it through in an evening, and felt as if I had spent that evening with 'salt of the earth' folk. Another reader said, "I loved the double, no triple, second chances. It was a very sweet ending."

Fast, enjoyable read.

Second Chances: Love Lost, Love Found by Kristie Leigh Maguire is a contemporary western romance, but the writing has the feel of the classic old-time romance novels. I found myself smiling as I read this book, because it made me think of how much my mother would have enjoyed it. We would have each read it and discussed it for days.

I enjoyed the "Second Chance" story line between Jim and Liz very much, but when it came to Jane and Mike, I'm torn. After the unspeakable way Mike treated Jane, I'm not sure that he deserved a second chance, or maybe it was just the way the second chance was resolved in the book. Kristie Leigh Maguire was able to make the character of Jane came alive for me, and I became so invested in her and her emotions that I just wanted to beat the crap out of Mike.

I find that days after reading this book, I'm still thinking about it. You just can't go wrong with a book that you can't stop thinking about after reading it. I truly wish mom were still around to discuss it with.

It is a sad story of broken promises, betrayal, regrets, forgiveness, and loved rekindled. Not sure I would hast trusted this man enough to remarry him so quickly. Lots of emotions worth reading

Jane Porter is devastated when her long-time boyfriend marries an outsider he has known for a few short weeks and doesn’t even have the decency to tell her first, she has to hear it from her father. But Mike’s new bride is not what she seems and soon takes off, leaving him feeling like a fool and realizing he had made the biggest mistake of his life. The relationship between Mike’s mother and Jane’s father’s deepens as they turn to each other to figure out how to best help their children. Although outside the genre I normally read, this turned out to be a heart-warming story of love, betrayal and forgiveness. The story is told from several viewpoints, detailing each character’s motivations and emotions and was very well written.
