About Gladys Quintal

A survivor of sexual abuse, I have recently published the true account of my childhood, titled: Life After Hell: Surviving Sexual Abuse. I have tried to convey what happened to me as well as my journey to finally getting justice. A lot of my own experiences have gone into my fictional works, especially my first book The Man of My Dreams. I created a vigilante vampire that rescues women and children from rapists and child molesters......

I've loved Vampires and the paranormal ever since I can remember and always envisaged myself writing a book or two on the subject! I have written 5 books in The Dream Series so far: The Man of my Dreams, Be Careful What You Wish For and The Chosen One, Succubus: An Erotic Companion and A Match Made in Hell. All Paranormal Romance novels with Vampires(of course) as well as a bit of blood and gore thrown in and the 4th one is slightly on the erotic side! These characters are very close to my heart and I hope you will come to love them as much as I have.

I recently finished a Contemporary Romance novella triology (Someone To Love Me series) and a New Adult novel, Entwined.

I also published a short story (Why Won't Someone Help Me?) about my health issues and the trouble with getting diagnosed or treated for invisible illnesses.

9-Sept-2012 ORIG REVIEW: Interesting but fizzled at end...
Decided to try this author/story when it was available as a free download. I would have rated it as 3 stars up until the end. Although I agree with another reviewer that the writing was a bit amateurish/fan fiction-ish (and the formatting errors in my copy took away from smooth reading flow), I was quickly drawn in by the story, as well as the twist on the traditional vampire lore.

Unfortunately, there were too many critical points either glossed over (um, the "gift"?) or ignored, especially at the end, which dropped my rating to 2 stars. I realize that the author contemplated a sequel (thus, the cliffhanger) but still, the end scene seemed poorly thought out and defied the normal suspension of disbelief for fiction. Likeable enough as a free read but given the plethora of vampire fiction, not enough to pay to see if this particular author's writing/story gets any better.

ADDED 9-Sept-2012: To clarify, I don't generally mind a cliffhanger in preparation of the next book (setting the stage, if you will), but it bothers me as a reader when not properly done and/or it adversely affects the current book. Yes, books in a series are generally linked together in some way or have a common arc, but the discrete plot/arc of each book usually should be resolved by the end (sort of like finishing the framework of a house before moving on to the sheetrock, plumbing, etc).

The way this book ended, the "cliffhanger" was for this story (which I took as how/why Cassie and and her dream man get together), not for the next (which, based on the blurb, appears to be how their relationship develops within an expanded storyline).

I don't want to give away the ending of TMOMD, so I'll just say that it was a bit like leaving out part of a house wall. The missing portion is not critical enough to affect the structural integrity of the house itself but it's obvious enough that working around it or correcting it after the fact becomes more awkward and time-consuming.

I just finished reading the book today and I started this earlier today. I couldn't put it down it had a very intresting take on vampires that kept true to what a vampire is but with a twist. It kept me interested and wanting to read more. I love the story line between Cassie and Alexi and how they want to be together but have work for it, through all the bad they still found lov in each other.
I gave the five stars because of the great storyline that kept me wanting to read till the end and left me wanting to read the rest in the series.

I love a good romance, so when I saw this book, I thought it sounded interesting. And interesting it was!

Cassie is a fantastic character. She is a loving and warm person, but she has a secret. When she goes to sleep, she is visited by her dream man. He has been in her dreams since she was 17 years old.
We never find out his name, but this mysterious man is very much alive and in love with Cassie. He protects her, and others like her, from the human monsters living in the world, even though he sees himself as a monster too; he's a vampire and under a curse.

I loved how Gladys Quintal showed points of view from both Cassie and her dream man, but I wished that we got to see more of the mysterious man. He intrigued me! Hopefully, the second book in the series will show more from his side of the story. There are some serious subjects brought up in this book, namely sexual abuse, 2 attempted rape scenes and a serial killer, so I do not recommend this book for anyone who has a nervous disposition or is under the age of 16. However, I recommend this book if you are looking for a fantastic romance novel with a paranormal twist.

Man of my Dreams (The Dream Series Book 1)
By Gladys Quintal

I received a copy of Man of my Dreams in a contest.  I absolutely loved this book.  So much I read it all in an hour.  Gladys had me screaming at her on the last page.  Thankfully book 2 is already out and I can run out and get it to read.  Haven't we all wished to have the man of our dreams come to us?  What would you do if you find out that there may be something dark to your fantasy lover?  Could you love the man for all sides his tender and loving nature opposed to his dark and protective side. I for one would sign up for that wild ride.    Alexi was all that to Cass and more giving her the greatest gift of all.  I would highly recommend this series to everyone and now I must read book 2.  Thank you Gladys for such a wonderful story.

I had mistakenly assumed this would be a regular paranormal/romance however there is a lot more to this story. There were elements of mystery, vigilante justice, psychology and unbelievably romance thrown into this mix. It definitely had me curious as to how this heroine and her love would be together in the end. An unexpected ending and refreshingly not sappy.
