Stranded by a snowstorm, Mary Lamb finds herself an unexpected guest at Britonlow Hall, an ancient English estate turned school for the blind. It is Christmas holiday, and the school is nearly abandoned, save for the housekeeper and a handful of staff. With little else to do during her confinement, Mary begins to pry into the truth about the mysterious history of the place, and soon finds herself entangled in the housekeeper's story of conceit, murder, forgiveness, love, and servitude.

An excellent book....when you get pass the first two chapters, after that I was hooked. Sometimes what you see is possibly misconceived. Trust is the hardest thing to give when you are unsure of yourself.
