I just finished Lawrence Cirell's "The Exit Broker" and found it about as thought provoking a novel as I've read in some time. While I assume (I hope) it was written tongue in cheek, it really did in a humorous way make you wonder if this sort of "population editing" (I loved that term) really does go on. I also thought it should be on the must-
read list of the "one percenters" (to take a term from the Occupy Wall Street movement). The novel shows that if the only criteria for right or wrong is profitability (see banking from 1990-2008) than the corporations in The Exit Broker should be esteemed and even bailed out if they need it! The characters seemed real, and strangely likable for all their flaws. The plot stretched credibility at times, but Cirelli pulled it off well enough to make his point. If
you're looking for something to read that's the same old same old or politically correct, don't even think of reading this one.
