About Elena DeRosa

With one foot planted in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia and the other in the streets of Brooklyn, New York, Elena DeRosa enjoys the best of both worlds. Born and raised in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, Elena now resides in Roanoke with her husband, two children, and quirky Malti-Zhu.

A former videotape editor, producer, and freelance newspaper columnist, Elena’s most rewarding career has been the years spent raising her children. Now that her children have graduated college and entered "the real world," Elena looks forward to being able to spend more time on her passion…writing. Blogging, photography, and paranormal investigating are her hobbies.

“Fractured Façade,” a novel written as memoir, is her debut book. "The Valentine's Day Curse" -- A short story, is her most recent.

What a superbly written tale! Spare in details, yet captivating. It's as candid as a conversation with Maria herself. A good story entertains. This goes beyond, actually takes you there, and and lingers awhile!

Highly recommended! The story is compelling and engrossing and rings very true. At the same time it's highly educational about how to prepare for a loved one's demise. I can't tell the difference between what parts are true and what might have been fictionalized, that's how real it is.

Congrats and thanks to Elena for writing such a meaningful book. I look forward to reading more from you.

I HAVE PUT OFF WRITING A REVIEW...BEING VERY INTIMIDATED BY YOUR WRITING SKILLS.. AFTER HEARING YOU TALK ABOUT WRITING THIS STORY AND GETTING A PREVIEW OF YOUR ACTUAL MANUSCRIPT I COULDN'T WAIT TO BUY MYSELF A COPY. I REALLY ENJOYED READING YOUR STORY. I COULD PICTURE SITTING AT YOUR TABLE WHILE YOU'RE TELLING ME YOUR STORY. I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH A LOT OF AGGRAVATION AND WORRYING ABOUT YOUR DAD OVER THE YEARS. I'M SO SORRY THE WAY THINGS TURNED OUT. IT MUST HAVE BEEN HARD RELIVING ALL THAT HAPPENED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I FEEL YOUR PAIN AND HOPELESSNESS TRYING TO PROTECT YOUR DAD FROM THAT EVIL ($@%&#)! YOU DID A GREAT JOB AND I CAN'T WAIT TILL YOU HAVE ANOTHER ONE DONE. HURRY UP. LOL
