Like Ancient Evening by this same author, this is also one of the best short stories I have ever read. Once again, Hetes keeps you guessing at what has happened to Garvin and only slowly gives the reader clues as the main character gets them. I don't want to give anything away, but just when I thought this book was going to end one way, there is a very interesting switchback that makes you contemplate if this could be happening in each our lives right now.
