I Serve: A Novel of the Black Prince
Rosanne E. Lortz wrote an intelligent and engaging tale based on real characters and events that made this reading journey one of the most exhilarating of this year. Historical fiction doesn't get much better than this. --Historical Tapestry

I was nicely surprised by how much I liked this book. While I have read lots of other historical fiction, I must admit I have not read much in the medieval time period. I guess I have always thought of it as the "Dark ages" and not as adventurous as more modern times. This book made me realize how wrong I was. I found it an exciting read. The characters are well developed and it was refreshing to read about a believable hero instead of the over used anti-hero. The prose of the book stands out and helped immerses me in the story. The love story throughout the book is what really hooked me. Of course, I was thinking of asking my girlfriend to marry me at the time so maybe I was just in a romantic mood. This book is an excellent value and a must read if you like historical fiction.
