By July of 1954, the Korean War had come to an end,the Rosenbergs had just been executed, and the McCarthy hearings were heating up. None of this matters to a seven year old boy who suddenly finds himself in a small town in Nebraska, while his family breaks apart. Before long, he has a friend, but the competition between them slowly drives them down a dark path.

well written, brings back many memories of growing up in the 50's when life seemed so simple. Funny dialoges between two young boys as they sort out life, baseball, and their own competitive natures.
