Review by: Linda Andrews on Oct. 27, 2011 :
Governess Lydia Taylor is on the run from a lecherous employer. She'd planned to be in town by evening, but a storm has trapped her on the moors. Holed up in his manor house, Jack Sibley is hiding from his dark past and trying to lose himself in his art. A chance glance out the window and he spies a woman in trouble and rushes to her rescue.

But once he has her, will he let her go?

Rescued by a Rake is a great short story, brimming with lush details of Victorian England, Gothic atmosphere and hot sex scenes. With a deft hand, the author shows how Lydia needs rescuing from her circumstances while Jack needs to be freed from the prison of rumor and innuendo. Can they overcome their fears enough to trust that love can control their passion without destroying themselves in the process?

Review by: Elysa Hendricks on Oct. 17, 2011 :
RESCUED BY A RAKE is a fun read. The moor sets a Gothic mood, but the tone isn't dark or heavy. For such a short read Ms Haines has managed to create likeable and believable characters. Lydia is feisty and bold, capable of taking care of herself, but when she finds herself on the run from a lecherous employer she accepts the help of Jack, a man harboring guilt for the death of his brother's fiancee. The sexual tension and love scenes between them are well done and definitely steamy.
