The Bad Bud

I have prayed for years for my daughter’s release of her addiction to alcohol. It’s a haunting and nauseating nightmare of sour smells, sour attitude and a sour outlook on life for her. It has my attention daily in the back of my mind. What has happened to that cherubic little smile and those bright astonished looks of amazement of the world that this once innocent girl had? She has turned into a shell of the person she wanted to be and was meant to be. I know why: it’s the bitter taste she took and clutched onto, the over indulgent father who thought he would be her friend and not the father to tell her alcohol solves nothing at all. This demon, alcohol, is my preoccupation of life. The obstacle of alcoholism was with me at birth; my mother was an alcoholic and consequently committed suicide in front of my brother and me when I was 9 years old.
