Colin Rose is an ambitious adventure for a first time novelist to tackle, but seven years as a journalist, writing thousands of words per day, trained me for the challenge of writing a novel. I’ve twice won state awards for best continuing coverage as a newspaper reporter, showing my ability to persevere and stick to a story when others have given up, but my heart is in writing novels and seeing Colin Rose take his place in the rich tradition of fantasy literature.
