Amber smacked her hands down to either side of the Macaroni noodle on the cream-color counter, glaring. Across the counter Sunny, her Sheltie, growled.
"It's mine," She said. Sunny growled a bit louder. She inched a hand toward the noodle, and Sunny nipped her finger. "Hey!"
Then he settled down again, his head resting on his paws.
"I am eating that noodle, sir," She told the dog. She reached for the noodle, but it invisibly repelled her hand. She reached with her other hand, strained, grimaced, then yelped and fell backwards to the hardwood floor.
Sunny barked three times, then snuffled, hopped to the ground, and dashed from the room. The noodle floated off the counter and followed the Sheltie. Amber struggled to her feet and lurched after.
