The Bhut Jolokia Caper

The Good Diner smelled of greasy meat, burnt eggs, and stale coffee. The counters looked like the last time they'd been cleaned was the Great Depression. You didn't ask for lemon in your water because of the moldy murk that emanated from the peel. The waitress was definitely not “overeasy”, she had the manner of a grumpy hedgehog. The whole establishment took the phrase “greasy spoon”, laughed, and asked “What spoon?” But they sold coffee, steak, and eggs for five dollars.

“I'm not sure this is steak,” muttered Thumbs.

“It's steak,” declared Locks, “Didn't you read the menu?”
