Maggie Berry turned on the coffee maker as she did every morning in the small kitchen at her office. She liked to get in early before the salespeople and her editor came in with their thousands of interruptions. As Maggie waited for the coffee to brew, she picked up a stack of mail, sat down at her desk and listened for the familiar chime as she turned on her computer. Feeling like a seventh-grader with a crush, she opened her email and quickly scrolled down until she found a press release from the Lakewood Performing Arts Center. Here. She clicked on the attached photo and Samuel Larchmont popped onto her screen, looking even better than the picture she held in her imagination. In fact, he looked so great that she wondered if he had been photo-shopped.

“Hey, I’m here!” Maggie quickly closed the photo as Max came into her office, holding two coffee cups. He placed one on the coaster beside her computer, then sat down across from her. “So, what’s up? Any word on our friend Aimee? Any mischief to report on her this week?”
