A Banging New Year

When I saw Todd enter the bar, I thought there might be trouble. Just the sight of him made we want to punch his face in, but in the name of civility and a happy new year, I tried very, very hard to ignore my foster sister’s ex-boyfriend. At first, he tried to ignore me, too. He spent a lot of time attempting to drunkenly chat up some sorority girl on the other end of the bar. While that seemed fine, my instincts screamed at me. I should have walked up to my sister, grabbed her hand, and walked out. Only, Gia and I didn’t do that. For one, our drinking budget was highly limited, and fleeing meant we’d have to pay another cover charge at a different place. So, we tried to stick it out at The Gravity. After all, they offered free champagne at midnight, and they had a hot food bar – so, no going to a diner to soak up the alcohol, later. Only, trouble eventually erupted.
