Colin wasn’t prepared for college. Yes, he had for boxes of pencils and fourteen bars of soap, but all the supplies in the world wouldn’t do anything to make his classes any easier. Colin was used to mediocrity. Colin’s essays were half quotes and half Wikipedia, his presentations were one minute of slides and four minutes of questions.

As he looked over his latest C+, Colin seemed ready to cry. His lean body was coated in sweat, and his arms seemed too heavy to move. He sat in his hard dorm room seat, reading and rereading his essay. Every page was nearly covered in red ink – “try harder”, “expand”, “what does this mean?”, “no evidence”, etc. Colin’s blue eyes blinked back tears. He thought about the man who tore his analysis to shreds – Professor Andretti.
