A picture book story to be enjoyed whether alone

or read aloud with others.

Once there was a big elephant who boasted all the time to the creatures of the countryside about how big and strong he was. He bragged so much that he made all of the other creatures quite sick of hearing his boasting, and they all began complaining to the King of the Beast, Master Lion. So sick was he of they're complains that one day Master Lion sent out a Royal Decree to silence them all and it read as so, "If there be any creature in my vast kingdom that is stronger than the elephant let them come forward and be declared the strongest creature of them all." Master Lion believed this Royal Decree would bring absolute silence to the elephant's critics, and with his position up held silence the big elephant's boasts.

As word went out of the King's Royal Decree, word reached far and wide across the countryside. And word did finally reach a creature which no one in the kingdom expected. A creature so small that most of the other countryside creatures would probably have stepped on it and not have even noticed. Word had reached the tiny ears of a little ant.
