Emma’s head was spinning, this made no sense. The tests are wrong, how could she be pregnant with someone else’s baby? How is that even possible?
“I don’t know who you have conducting these tests but they obviously do not know what they are doing.” Max was now almost yelling.
“I had them test the results twice and even sent the blood work to a different lab, Max, the test is not wrong, I don’t know how it happened but somehow another woman’s egg ended up inside Emma’s body. This isn’t in any of the medical journals, nor have my colleagues or Professors at Harvard ever seen anything like this without it being a surrogate situation.”
Max was sitting in his chair completely silent and white as a ghost. Emma had gotten out of her seat and was pacing around the room. Dr. Young noticed the look on Max’s face and became curious.
“Max can I speak to you privately?” She asked
“Why do you need to speak to Max alone?” Emma asked defensively. “What would he know that I don’t?”
“Emma, Sweetheart, it’s ok. No doctor I don’t think we need to speak privately, what I have to say everyone should hear it.” Max said barely audible. “Please, Honey, come sit down.”
Emma walked back to her seat and sat down, Max turned his chair so he could look at her face to face. He took both of her hands in his.
“Emma.” He then paused trying to figure out how to tell her. “First, I want to say that I love you more than anything. I would never do anything intentionally to hurt you. I would rather die than cause you pain.”
