The hat did it. Everybody recognized the hat. Plus my old, ugly face and my name. The last surviving participant of Super Bowl XXI. Full of spit and balls-to-the-wall everything that made me the second-best inside linebacker of the day. Overshadowed only by Lawrence Taylor. My own teammate. We won the Super Bowl together that year, 1987. Until today, that’s been the most kick-ass day of my life.
