Early one summer morning, Cynthia rode her horse, Cobalt, down the trail past Lilac Lane. Cynthia shivered as the cold morning air chilled her. She told Cobalt, as her teeth chattered, “Brr, cold, hunh, Cobalt.”
Cynthia zipped up her hoodie as Cobalt snorted loudly and shook his head, his dark mane waving over and back. Cynthia patted Cobalt’s neck, comforting her treasure; “I know it’s too early. I know you didn’t want to wake up and get moving quite yet. But, we don’t want everyone to see us going down the secret trail, right?”
Cynthia rode along and guided Cobalt onto the Horse Crazy Pals Trail. She gazed about and sighed, “Oh, I love it here. This is my favorite trail. There are plenty of places for you to eat, Cobalt. Then, there is the lake, so you can have a drink and have a nice rest. And, if we get too hot or anything we can take a dip in the cool water! I like swimming in there.”
As Cynthia and Cobalt slowly moved along the Horse Crazy Pals Trail, she wondered, “Boy, do you think Abby and Mackenzie woke up on time? They said they would meet us at the lake this morning. They better not still be sleeping. If they are late, I will have to just tell them that tardiness is not a good way for our group. After all, the Horse Crazy Pals do what they say they are going to do, and they do it when they say, not whenever the mood strikes them. No sir!”
