Let me out. I’m trapped in this body and can’t escape.
I know who I really am, and this ain’t it.
Get me outta this place!
I have so much to do, but I can’t stand this blood and bones getting in the way. I feel so solid, and I can feel every move I make.
This is not where I come from. I am light as air, I move without effort. When I think, I fly! That is my true home, not this stinking, pitiful body. Who did this to me?
“Perhaps I know,” came a voice, soft and sweet.
I looked down and saw a mouse, twitching its whiskers.
“You what?” I roared.
The mouse was unafraid. It just waited for me to calm down. Then it began again.
“I do know, if you would care to listen,” it said softly.
I sat down. I stared the thing in the eyes, those beady little eyes that were as black as coal.
