CHAPTER ONE: OF GHOSTS (OR SPIRITS)
Dolores Francisca Schwartzmann-Cho was an Englishwoman who wore her Spanish-German-Chinese heritage on her sleeve. Few women in the office could match her work ethic, her dedication, or the musculature she had formed on her arms. They were arms one might describe as “rock-solid” or “absolutely astonishing.” Dolly was feminine pride incarnate; a vestige of a war-torn age long gone. Rather, these were the things James Eldritch imagined when he heard the woman speak, and it was likely that none were true.
“So that’s when it happened?” James rattled off one of his pre-programmed responses into the speakerphone as he rolled the mouse wheel between his fingers.
