One Reel Introduction

I did not want to write an introduction to this book.

In a more perfect world, there would be no more need for an introduction, preface or foreword to a book than there would be for an explanatory tag attached to a painting. But books are not paintings. Probably they are—at their best—recorded music without the soundtrack. Vinyl albums used to have liner notes. CDs did as well. Whenever you download a song, chances are good you will get a few words about the track in some cyber-linked manner. So in this case, we get to share an introduction. My job is to write it. Yours is to read it, or skip it, as you see fit.
