A year after I had been fired from the Rathskeller and return to Wister Town, I first visit Mr. Brodman's grave. At his chilly graveside, I pour the simpering dead man a generous helping of beer through my bladder. The snow dissolves under the steaming spray so I'm unable to write my name or draw a nice picture for the dead man. Instead, the fluxed stuff at Yelloweed Cemetery changes to frozen amber, locking the empty cans of Old Wisconsin I discard in place until the coming Spring thaw. That should be soon, but I won't wait around.
