To be honest, I didn’t even like Ezra very much when I first met him. He came off as a cocky rich kid, with more money than sense. I first met him when I went to audit the finances of his casino; I came across this young man lounging at a desk playing with his phone. I thought he was an intern, and asked, “I’m here to see Mr. Risk.”

He looked up, surprised. “That’s me. Or my dad.” His grin was boyish. “But I own this casino. Are you…?”

Stella,” I finished. “Your auditor.”

He nodded, straightened his tie, and finally put his fancy phone away. I followed him into a conference room.

Go easy on me,” he said with another grin as he spread some financial papers before him. “I just bought this place from my dad last year, so he could concentrate on our Vegas locations.” He leaned back in his chair, looking smug. “Risk. Great family name for a casino mogul, huh?”

I was embarrassed for him and how clever he thought that was. I pulled my glasses on from their place on my forehead and began to flip through his documents. “Yes, sir.”
