Below: Maarjamäe stands on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Estonians lovingly nickname this Soviet monument “The Impotent’s Dream.” While one occasionally comes across such Soviet relics in Tallinn’s city center, for the most part the city celebrates its medieval past (in its glamorous old architecture as seen from the Kohtu viewing platform on the cover) and the success of this contemporary high-tech industry.
