Hannah held the phone to her face, trying to avoid coughing on it. She dialed her friend Sandra's number.
“Hello?” Sandra answered.
Hannah was wracked by another series of coughs. “Hey, Sandra,” she said hoarsely. “I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I'm going to have to cancel our lunch for today.”
“Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, babe,” Sandra replied. There was a brief silence on the other end. “Listen... I know a doctor. He might be able to make a house call. I'll see if I can get him to come over.”
Hannah coughed again. “A house call? What kind of doctor does that? No, I'll just lay in bed and rest. I'll call you when I feel better, okay?”
“Alright, Hannah. I hope you feel better soon. Bye.”
Hannah set the phone down on her nightstand and coughed again. She pulled the blankets tighter around her body. At some point during the night, she had been burning up. She'd taken all of her clothes off and tossed them across the room. Now she was freezing, but she felt too exhausted to go get them. She shivered underneath the covers and closed her eyes. She'd feel better if she just got more rest...
