Submitting to the Senator

It was exciting times for Stacey being on the campaign trail during an election year with the incumbent Senator, David Michaels. She may be a lowly assistant Stacey thought but she still got to participate in the whirlwind that was called electioneering.

How did I get here so fast?” Stacey thought and it was a question worth answering.

The day seemed like it was only yesterday when her best friend Maggie phoned her. They had known each other since high school and had remained friends ever since. Stacey had needed a job since the company she used to work for went out of business. Just another company lost to the global financial crisis. If you are affected the crisis takes on a whole new meaning than just seeing news reports about it every night. For a lot of people this was just something that happened, a blip in their lives and a platform for politicians to claim higher economic credentials or a better grasp of the problems of the working class, or usually both.

But for Stacey and thousands of others this was not just some sound bite, it was her life, her livelihood that had been shaken upside down by unscrupulous bankers who not only in most cases, kept their jobs, received millions in bonus payments, but also had their mistakes paid for by the government using taxpayers money. They were actually better off after this crisis whilst the thousands they hurt, still hurt.
