One of the "hot button" social and political issues that we see come to the surface periodically is "illegal immigration." This research project will be aimed at discovering some of the Biblical passages that may shed a little light on the issues surrounding illegal immigration.
A simple working definition of an illegal immigrant, that we will use is - someone who illegally moves to a country other than the one they were born in or have legal residence in. There are dozens of nuances that we could consider to develop a more rigorous legal definition, but let's just use this simple one because it covers a common example used by parties on both sides of the illegal immigrant debate - a citizen of Mexico who gains entrance to the US illegally and establishes a temporary or permanent residence in the United States. Generally, this is done to obtain employment. That's the primary motivator for most of the 11 million or so illegal immigrants we think reside in the US today.
