Jack stepped out of the D-line, meat locker cold, subway car and onto the sweltering platform on 34th street. He inhaled through his nose. The smells were the usual New York mix of urine, homeless feet, puddles of trash, and body odor. A fruity perfume flashed by with a short skirt, shiny thighs, and knowing smile. Jack glanced over.
