Chapter One

Zambezi is the richest oil producing country in Africa and second only to Saudi Arabia. All of its oil is pumped from the Kura region. In spite of the vast oil, which is pumped daily from this region, it is the most deprived region in the country. The region lacks all the basic infrastructures. The roads, electricity, water, schools, hospitals are all in deplorable condition.

When it was first announced that Kura was second to Saudi Arabia in oil reserves, the hope of the people skyrocketed. They believed that when the black gold began to flow all their poverty and woes would vanish but this has yet to occur.
