A Strange One

Oscar woke up Monday morning and called in sick to work. In truth, he only suffered from a slight hangover. But the thought of the workday gave him an icy feeling of despair that entirely filled his being. Getting dressed. The commute to Mountain View. His supervisor asking for the report he hadn't finished. The faces of his coworkers. The sound of his secretary's voice as she talked on the phone. Nightmarish. He called in and told them he was ill. Food poisoning. No, it wasn't too serous, he would surely make it in tomorrow.
