Laura Madison yawned as she swiped her ID badge. 10 AM came way too early today, she thought. Last night was rough -- she lost count of how many shots she had done, and she hadn't left the club until closing time. But it was a rare thing to have any nights out in her profession, so she had to take what she could get. Even if it was on a work night.
The next door required another swipe. Then there was an elevator where ID cards had to be scanned. She swallowed hard as the elevator plummeted under the earth. No matter how many times she rode this elevator, her ears always popped. Laura figured they were three, four stories down by now, and there were more security measures still to come. A retina scan, and a fingerprint scan, and another swipe at a metal-plated security door.
