The setting for the following story is a real place. Its name is Sikait. It is the location of the legendary emerald mines of the Egyptian Pharaohs. Abandoned for centuries, Sikait lies in a desolate tract of desert about 500 miles south of Cairo, Egypt. An article about the place in an archeology magazine inspired this story. The photos in the article of the ancient, crumbling buildings that once were vibrant and alive stirred my imagination. The result is the following story. I did take some liberties with traditional book writing style, so this book is somewhat experimental in format. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
