Jack o' Lantern, with your eyes so bright
And your mouth stretched in a smile
Will you walk with me tonight
And come to the woods for a while?
No, I'd rather stay right here
Safe on my little porch
I have to protect the children from fear
With my shining torch.
Jack o' Lantern with your pumpkin skin
And your insides all scraped out
Why should you even begin
To protect them from their doubt?
I took the duty to watch and care
When they moved out of the cave
I knew that they would need me to share
And make them feel warm and safe.
Jack o' Lantern put these things away
And walk again in the wild
Shun again the light of day
