CHAPTER ONE

Twin fountains of blood spurted from the woman’s neck and formed spidery letters, before the heart ceased pumping. The vampire dropped the head and spat at the half-formed name. He studied the young woman’s neck and burped. “Once upon a time, I could have drained her without drawing breath and still had enough for my signature.”

He slowly stood, pushing his hand into the small of his back and stretching. Head on an angle, he gazed at the letters and sighed before stomping out of the room and slamming the door.
