"Here." I said. I handed Klander her birthday present. She looked at me and smiled. I bit my lip as she unraveled the wrapping paper. "I like the wrapping paper." She laughed. I scratched the back of my head and explained why the paper was Camoflauge. "Can't count on Walmart to have everything." Said her mother, Sophie. I nodded, agreeingly. Klander carefully slid her hand between the sides of the mysterious box, ripping the tape from the sides. She took the top off the box and looked down. She looked up at me and let out a laugh. A laugh that only she can laugh. "You're obsessed with Camo, aren't you, Bow?" I chuckled and began scratching my head again. Sophie crossed her arms, "I know damn well you bought her something better than a camoflauged blanket, Bow." She rolled her eyes. "Well I love it, Mom." Klander said, laughing. "Your mother's right. This is just an appetizer. Get a load of this." I reached into my jacket pocket and pulled out a tiny box. It contained a 14k gold bracelete that originally cost a lot, but I sort of bargained with the cashier. She glared at me and asked me what it was. "Look for yourself." I pointed. Her glare was uneasy as if she knew I spent more money that she said I could.
She flipped it open and gasped loud. Sophie's eyes widened a bit and she looked at me. I nodded slowly, "You bet your sweet ass I bought that for her." She got up, letting the blanket tumble to the floor, and rushed to me. She put her arms around my neck, tiptoeing to my height and hugged me tight. "Klander.." I said, blushing. "Oh, Bow! It's beautiful!" I hear her rip it out of the box. She let go and asked me to put it on her left wrist. "Well, Bow. You really outdid it this time." Steve said, his hands in his pockets. "See! That proves it!" Sophie exclaimed to Steve, her husnand. "Proves what, Mom?" Klander asked, rushing to her father for him to examine her new posession. "Proves that Bow loves you, Klander. If he's willing to spend HIS money on YOU. Oh come on, honey. It's all right there, dead in his face." Sophie said, pointing at me. I feel my face growing hot and automatically deny it. Steve starts in, "He's red as a tomatoe, dear. He's clearly head over heels for you." Klander kept her eyes fixed on the bracelete. "Dad, grow up." She said. Sophie walks to the kitchen and sighs. Steve shrugs. I pick up the blanket up off the carpet and set it on the coffee table.
