The van H’las Bride Who Brought Honour in Her Pocket

eneral-Lord ‘Tashka’ el Maien van H’las limped lightly into the flaming golden candlelight of the ballroom on long lean legs in gleaming thigh-length black boots. Her exquisite slanted blue eyes slid rapidly from side to side then fronted forwards, narrowing as she noted the rapid turn of heads and the lifting of hands and fans to whisper behind. She went ten paces across the polished parquet floor into the scented air and the rustle of silks and satins and chatter and whispers. She stopped and stood a moment, tall and muscular in her black double-breasted parade silks with the blue details, her legs apart and her hands loosely clasped behind her back in the formal H’las stance.
