Being an artist, I have accompanied my poetry with my art.
Please note that I use Australian spelling throughout. You will see doubled letters (e.g. focussed), ou’s (e.g. colour) and ‘re’ (centre) as well as a few other differences from American spelling.
WOODEN COTTAGE - AFTERNOON
A tiny wooden cottage made up of one large living area that consists of kitchen/ family room is the home of three oddly named children; two boys, Squash, 13 and Crookneck, 11, a girl, Pattypan, 7 and Marie-Louise, their 35 year old mom.
A wooden table centres the room with four wooden stools. Marie-Louise toils carving a pumpkin into pieces with a large knife, on a bench near the cast iron stove; there, a large pot is steaming.
