The creatures arrived without warning. Their great ships blotted out our skies for two days, silently hovering, before they actually made contact with us. A team of their highest-ranking members left the mothership to meet with Earth’s leaders, and with the aid of alien translators who had studied human languages for decades, they discussed the unimaginable.

Their demands were simple.

They wanted women.

The female sex was unfamiliar to them. Their species had only male members, and they reproduced through a process similar to mitosis. They had never even known women of any kind existed until they’d begun monitoring Earth.

We never knew how the deal was reached. If the aliens threatened our planet, it was never publicly announced. But Earth’s governments agreed to the aliens’ demands readily. A compulsory lottery was held for unmarried women. Of the women whose numbers were chosen, all were inspected for their physical beauty. The agreement was that Earth would send only its best.
