“I wonder if he knows. He’s God in the flesh, of course he knows. Why hasn’t he said anything? Maybe He….”
“Judas, Judas! Pass the bread to Peter please.” Paul had interrupted Judas’ thoughts. It was loud and crowded but the thoughts in Judas’ head were louder than any of the voices in the room. He passed the bread to Peter who had a puzzled look on his face. “Judas, are you alright? You haven’t said a whole lot this evening and you look bothered.”
“Yes Peter, all is well.”
Just then Jesus looked at Judas and said, “All IS well.”
Sadness began to fill Judas because the guilt was more than he could bear. “I have to confess to Jesus what I’ve done. He’s been so good to us….to me and he should know. Who am I kidding, he already knows. Why hasn’t he said anything to me? Maybe ….” The room grew colder and he heard a deep scratchy eerie voice begin to speak.
“Maybe he isn’t who he claims to be… the all-knowing Messiah. What man would not confront someone who has stolen his money and betrayed him?” Judas’ eyes dart left to right to see who could be saying that. The voice is familiar, dry and hot to his ears. The room began to grow colder but only Judas noticed. “HE DOES NOT KNOW.” If he was the Son of God, he would know and would have said something. You have been stealing for a while and yet remain the head of finances for Jesus and all of his disciples. Who would allow that? What more evidence do you need?”
