Getting out of her car, Renae Cartland locked its door. After making sure that it was well hidden behind the clump of trees, she crept towards the high fence which she scaled with comparative ease. From there she hopped onto the overhanging branch and climbed her way to the highest point. It was at moments like these, that her interest in trekking and mountain climbing came to her aid. Once she had found the perfect position, she perched herself on a safe branch and smiled. All she now had to do was to wait for the moment he came out and shoot.
Even though creative writing was her first love, her profession as a freelance photographer is what brought in the real money. After years of struggling and trying to prove herself to her peers, she had finally attained the enviable position, where she was much respected amidst her peers and much feared by the social circle that inevitably became her target. She knew she produced her greatest shots when she photographed nature, but it was the 'celebrity' photos that really earned her the big bucks. And there was no one person who guaranteed a five-figure income, than her current subject.
Jared Walker was one of the most, if not `the' most sort after and photographed socialite on the Australian scene. At thirty-five years of age he had taken over his father's firm a few years ago while still continuing his personal enterprises. His dad had retired on medical grounds however the rumour was that the financial problems of his company contributed greatly to his father's illness. It was when his company was at the lowest point that Adrian Walker had turned to his son for help. And Jared without a moment’s hesitation had stepped into his father's shoes. Since doing that, not only had Jared Walker made the company financially viable again, he had even expanded and moved it into the international market. Just four years after taking over the company Jared had well and truly made it into a billion dollar investment. With fame and money came the other attachments, elegant homes, fancy cars and beautiful women. And while all who knew him held Jared in awe, it was his involvement with the opposite sex that the people really wanted to read about. Journalists and photographers vied to get the prized "scoop', for everyone knew that a photograph of Jared Walker was guaranteed to sell out `that edition'.
