I pushed myself to a sitting position, and briefly realized that I was still wearing the same clothes I'd had on the last time I saw Jenner through anything more than a foggy, fever-induced delirium – which my bedside chrono told me was two days before – and that I reeked of sweat. My hair hadn't seen a brush in at least three days, and my mouth tasted like I'd been licking the floor in my sleep, but none of that mattered, I just had pneumonia. Jenner had seen me in worse shape.
