Gage Preston loved the stillness of the forest. The previous night's rain dripped through the trees and matched the crunch of his footsteps over the undergrowth. He sniffed the damp, pine-scented air and wished he didn't also have to inhale the faint sulfur odor of the Fletcher Paper mill.
