Robert E. Lee

The Supreme Patriot

Robert E. Lee

With the exception of George Washington, the most famous general in American history is Robert E. Lee (January 19, 1807 – October 12, 1870). Lee’s fame came in spite of the fact that he led the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia against the Union Army in the Civil War.

There could be no mistaking Robert Edward Lee as an army man. He spent 32 years in the military. Lee entered West Point in 1825 at the age of 18. He really didn’t want to become a soldier. He wanted to be a doctor.
