Kiburi the warrior falcon was born blind, but now sees and receives visions of those in need of Leena’s magic. When Kiburi has his first vision, he flies to Leena and they set off on their first adventure together. Little do they know that they will meet a magic man and lion that will change their lives forever.
It was late at night when Kiburi flew to the tree where his friend the owl lived. Kiburi found his wise friend perched on a limb, quietly watching the night unfold below him.
“I just had a vision about an elderly lion that is being teased by the younger lions in his pride,” Kiburi said. “This upsets me because everyone should respect the elderly members of their family. I felt this lion’s sadness at not being respected anymore. I believe that this lion was once a great warrior who was respected throughout Africa.”
“I once knew a great lion,” the owl said. “He was the greatest lion in all of Africa. His name was King Rissaso. He once saved all of the animals of Africa. In fact he saved Africa.”
“Really? Tell me his story. Perhaps it will help me understand my vision.”
“Very well. Many years ago a war broke out in Africa. Humans set fire to villages, forcing people to flee their homes. They burned the villages so that they could take control of the land. Winds blew across the plains with a mighty strength and carried the fires over all of Africa. The humans tried to put out the fires, but the winds kept the fires burning.”
