THE MIDNIGHT sky eclipsed the Blue Moon Bar in the small beach town of Half Moon Bay. It was the only drinking bar down Pearl Road. The small building sat sideways by a fluffy, salty sand Pacific Ocean beach.
Nate Sullivan pulled into the parking lot in his Lexus and stopped perpendicular to the white lined spaces at the far end. There were seven other cars parked and Nate didn’t want his new toy getting keyed or scratched.
He stepped out of the tan leather driver’s seat. The white reflection of his Lexus in the dark, misty night glowed in his eyes. Pale blue light from the Blue Moon Bar sign over its front door highlighted the building, spewing a simmering glow over the cars. Nate tapped the door lock button on his remote control and the horn honked.
